Esther would love to photograph you and your horse. She understands that every photography session is unique, so please do get in touch to discuss your ideas with her and it would be fabulous to find out all about your horse.

Esther is a highly acclaimed professional equine photographer with over 15 years experience. She is a qualified member of British Institute of Professional Photography and is currently working on her first edition book “Wild Hearts”. She has a natural affinity with animals and people which enables her to capture tender, evocative moments in her photography. Her empathetic approach ensures that both you and your horse feel at ease, special.

Your photography session is individually tailored to your needs. Esther will spend time getting to know you beforehand during your consultation appointment in person or via Skype. The consultation is a great way to get to know you better, plan your photography session and ensure you get the most from the experience whilst also guaranteeing that you and your horse enjoy every minute.

On the morning of the session, you may feel a little nervous but don’t worry, Esther will make you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy a lovely experience which you, your family and your horse will remember for many years to come.

Your photography session will centre around creating unique fine art pieces which are utterly personal to you. Capturing fleeting moments in time, your photographs will show the true essence and beauty of your horse

The Fine Art Session £125

Commission Esther Marie to create your own bespoke fine art. Your photography session will capture the beauty of your horse at liberty in their own environment or at a special location if your horse is happy to be travelled.

Esther will then set to work capturing the grace, power and beauty of your horse in a way which you know and love.

We have a range of beautiful art work with which to display your photographs. One of my personal favourites is the wooden print box which holds 20 mounted fine art prints and 20 digital print ready digital copies on a usb key. It’s a very personal way to present your images with a final finishing touch of having your horses name engraved on the top of the box. Or perhaps a beautiful photo encaustic fine art print to be placed pride of place in your home. However you choose to display your fine art photography you will be certain to have a truly individual, fine art piece which is completely personal to you.

about having a portrait session with your horse

I'M NOT SURE IF WE HAVE THE SPACE ?

You will be surprised to find out that you dont need acres of forest or lakes to have a beautiful photography session.  As your photographer, it is my job to find suitable locations in and around your yard or home. I dont just look for green areas, I’m also looking for interesting textures, shapes and colours. So dont worry if you think your yard isn’t suitable, as I can guarantee there will be something unique about your yard that will look great in your photography session.

CAN YOU PROVIDE A HAIR AND MAKEUP STYLIST FOR MY SESSION?

Our deluxe horse and owner photography sessions are not just about photography, they are also lovely memorable experience days when you and your horse can spend time together whilst you are also treated to professional hair and make up styling. Our professional hair and makeup stylist will work with you to create a look you love, making you feel extra special for your photography session; whether it’s a natural country feel or a more stylised photography session. The photography session is yours to design as you wish.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Plan all your outfits (we suggest 2 or 3 in total) a few days before your session.  Try country clothing, smart casual outfits,  or even bohemian and quirky styles too.

Personally I love muted colours but if you want bright colours, I suggest you avoid stripes, sports motifs and anything that dates quickly. Layered clothing looks fabulous, as do tu-tu’s and wellys (for little ones)!

HOW SHALL I PREPARE MY HORSE ?

It’s just as important to make sure your pets and horses are ready for their photo session too. please make sure that pets & horses are bathed and groomed the day before. This avoids the stress of trying to dry them on the morning of the session! Also make sure that collars, bridles and saddles are clean and shiny and it can be a good idea to exercise your horse before the session too.

Also please try to avoid using frayed lead ropes and brightly coloured, especially fluorescent, lead ropes, as they can be distracting  in your final photographs.

HOW MANY HORSES CAN I INCLUDE IN THE SESSION?

Esther is happy to photograph multiple horses as long as you discuss this before your photography session so you can plan and organise more assistants on the day of your shoot.

CAN I INCLUDE MY OTHER PETS AND/OR FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE SESSION?

Each photography session with Esther Marie is individually tailored to your needs. As part of your session, you will plan your photography together with Esther, this is where you can make sure all your pets and any family members you wish to be involved in the session are included in all the plans and preparation to ensure no one is left out!

CAN WE GO TO A SEPARATE LOCATION ON THE DAY OF MY SESSION?

If your horse will load and travel easily and you have a particular place in mind like the beach, woodland etc.. Then Esther is more than happy to photograph you and your horse somewhere special.

HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL FOR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS?

Esther is commissioned to photograph horses and owners across the UK and abroad. Please contact the studio to find out about any additional travel costs that may apply.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION ?

Approximately two weeks after your photography session you will be invited to our studio in Lancashire to view your images . All your images will be professionally edited and retouched by Esther, ready for you to view in the form of a slide show. This is when you can select and purchase your favourite photographs. We can help guide you through our bespoke wall art, prints and albums and help you select the right artwork for your home. It’s a lovely experience normally lasting aproximately one and a half hours, with choice of bubbles, tea, coffee and some treats.

What is archival printing ?

ArchivalPrints” are Museum-quality Fine-Art reproductions. Sometimes called “Giclee Prints“, these artworks are made with an ultra-high-resolution fine-art printer, using the very finest archival inks and papers. They  have a style and finesse loved by artists and photographers but more importantly are created to last a lifetime. ensuring you will enjoy your art work for many years to come.

What is archival framing?

You have invested in beautiful photography with Esther Marie and we want you to be able to enjoy your artwork for a life time. So buying  cheap frames and mounts to sell to our clients is something we do not do.  This is because cheap mounts, mounting boards and non-archival ways of mounting the artwork put acidic materials in contact with the artwork. Eventually — even within a few months — acid begins to migrate into the artwork to age and discolor it.

Our frames are handmade in the UK  by master craftsmen ensuring  you have art work that lasts a lifetime. Below is a description of how your frames are created.

Museum archival framing uses 100% cotton rag as matting material, the colored space between the piece itself and the frame. Besides protecting the work from being close to the frame, it also protects the work from being too close to the glass which can have adverse effects such as condensation. The mounting hinges (invisible attachments between your art work and the backing board) are made of Japanese paper with natural wheat or rice paste used as the adhesive.

The conservation glass used in such framing filters out between 97 to 99% of ultraviolet rays, which protects the work from fading as well as scratching. In addition to possessing all of those materials, the frame  has an acid-free paper dustcover stretched across the back. This prevents dust particles and tiny insects from gaining access to your art work.

What is a photo- encaustic?

Photo- encaustics,” is a lovely mixed media technique that uses beeswax and damar resin as a medium to create mixed media photography. The “caustic” part of the term indicates that heat is used to melt and blend the layers of wax into a unified piece. The end result is a one of a kind art work filled with texture and  depth which will be a talking point in any home.

Do you sell individual digital images?

We dont sell individual digital files as we wish to provide beautiful artwork which will last a life time. So we made the decision to only provide digital files once you have purchased beautiful wall art or print collections plus, we also provide  screen only copies of any wall art purchased for use on social media accounts. Ensuring Esther Marie’s photography is seen in its best possible form.

What is a copyright licence and why do I need one with my digital files ?

The Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 states – copyright of a photograph belongs to the person who took it.
This means that clients may only use photographs taken by a professional photographer in ways that have been agreed at the time they were commissioned. If further uses are required at a later date, permission must be sought from the copyright holder and an additional fee agreed. The difference between owning the copyright and having the images under licence is how the images may be used. Under UK Law, it is the photographer who will own the copyright of any images he / she has taken and it is illegal to use an image without a granted licence or rights. When images are supplied under licence it means that the photographer retains the copyright but licences the client to use the images for a specific use.
