about having a portrait session of your dog
I'M NOT SURE IF WE HAVE THE SPACE ?
You will be surprised to find out that you don’t need acres of forest or lakes to have a beautiful photography session. As your photographer, it is my job to find suitable locations in and around your home I don’t just look for green areas, I’m also looking for interesting textures, shapes and colours. So don’t worry if you think your home isn’t suitable, as I can guarantee there will be something unique about your home that will look great in your photography session. Or your other option would be for us to meet at a location or your choice, perhaps somewhere your dog likes to go? The beach, woodland or we can even head out into the City!
DOES MY DOG NEED TO GO TO THE DOG GROOMERS BEFORE FOR OUR SESSION?
It’s important that your dog is ready and looking their best for their photography session. Whilst it’s not essential that you book your dog into a professional groomers especially for the photography session, a nice bath and groom the day before can be a nice treat for your dog.
Please make sure you groom / bath your dog the day before the session as this avoids the stress of trying to dry them on the morning of the shoot!
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE SESSION?
Bring along any pet accessories if your dog likes to wear them. Make sure you also bring your dogs favourte treats and toys too. Avoid bright coloured leads and make sure they are in good condition
HOW SHALL I PREPARE MY DOG ON THE MORNING OF THE SESSION ?
It’s important to make sure your dog is ready for their photo session. Please make sure that your dog is bathed and groomed the day before. This avoids the stress of trying to dry them on the morning of the session! Also make sure that collars, are clean and shiny and it can be a good idea to exercise your dog before a studio session if your dog is a giddy kipper!
We also reccomend that you reduce your dogs morning feed on the day of the session as they will be having lots of yummy treats before and after the session.
Please try to avoid using frayed leads and brightly coloured, especially fluorescent, leads, as they can be distracting in your final photographs.
Please also make sure your pet has toilette before the photography session ( especially if the session is at my studio)
WHAT IF MY DOG ISN’T VERY WELL BEHAVED?
We recommend exercising your pet before his or her session, as a tired pet is usually a polite pet! Keeping your pet a little hungry is also helpful, because they are more likely to respond to the occasional treat. and positive reinforcement. Beyond that, we are able to capture fantastic images with the rowdiest pets, so don’t worry…your session will be special regardless of how Rover behaves.
MY DOG WILL NEVER SIT OR GO OFF LEAD?
I promise that we are able to photograph the most giddy dogs,. I have alot of tricks up my sleeve to get your dogs attention! In fact alot of the images you see on my website are photographed with dogs wearing leads or a long lines to keep them safe and happy, I can still capture action shots using longlines and I am able to make leads and lines disappear in post production to create stunning art work.
CAN WE GO TO A SEPARATE LOCATION ON THE DAY OF MY SESSION?
Yes, we can begin the session at your home, then if you have a particular place in mind like the beach, woodland etc.. Then Esther is more than happy to move to a different location to photograph your dog somewhere special too.
HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL FOR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS?
Esther is commissioned to photograph Equine and Canine sessions across the UK and abroad. Please contact the studio to find out about any additional travel costs that may apply.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION ?
